A Gentle and Quiet Spirit

Today, it was suggested of me that I write about having a gentle and quiet spirit, which is found in 1 Peter 3. In verse 4 it says, "but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious."

In Proverbs 31:26 it says, " She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue." I know you're probably wondering what the two have in common? Well, sometimes, we don't always have kind opinions, and we need to learn to keep our mouth shut sometimes, and only open our mouth to teach with kindness, and be wise in our decisions of what we say. "Is it true, is it kind, is it necessary?" One of my favorite phrases, we need to learn to keep a gentle spirit, and only speaking kind words to others, which is very difficult at times, but if we are to be the light of the world, then we should reflect God, and only speak in kindness, and in wisdom, and sometimes, if someone is being very rude, the easy thing to do would be to snap at them, but that isn't being gentle. If you're going to do it, do it kindly, and necessarily.

I know a few people who, just about every word that comes out of their mouth is harsh, not very well thought out, and usually makes me want to punch them in the face. Those kinds of people, typically have no friends, because no one wants to be around them. This is because they refuse to be gentle and quiet, and with wisdom. Then I know others, who never have a bad thing to say about anyone and you know, they seem to be very happy people, and seem to always have friends around them. This is because they have a gentle, and quiet spirit.

So please remember, before you open your mouth, to remain having a gentle, and quiet spirit, because it'll only help you out in the end, even though it's sometimes difficult. :)
