Hypocrisy

In Luke 6:42 it says, "How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye." Sometimes, when we try to help others, it can be very easy to forget that we have faults of our own. And we have to be very careful about this, because no one will listen to a hypocrite.

Let's say you're having a hard time with gossiping, and two people talk to you about it. The first one does nothing but talk bad about people, and the other one has never had anything bad to say about anyone. Who would you be more willing to listen to? Sometimes, we not only need to teach others, but we have to also remember that we have to be taught as well, and apply what we learn to our lives. So next time you see someone struggling with something, check yourself first. You'll end up fixing a lot more problems when you fix yours first, than if you didn't. :)
