Self Respect and Gaining Respect From Others

When you dress modestly, what are you showing the world? You are showing them that you respect yourself, and your purity. The only way you can get respect, is if you respect yourself first, and show others that you should be respected. And people aren't going to treat you as if you're apart from the world, if you dress like the world. If you dress as the world wants you to dress, then people will treat you like you follow the world's standards. You are also showing everyone that you don't respect your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19 "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,". If your body is the temple of God, you should protect it, and cover it. And, if your body is the temple of God, don't you think that you should follow the commandments that come with it? "Likewise also, that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire," 1 Timothy 2:9 That is saying that we should not only cover our bodies respectably, but it's also saying that we shouldn't wear clothes, or accessories, that bring attention to ourselves. So please, next time you get dressed, remember that your body is a temple of God, and that you should treat it accordingly. :)
