"To God Be the Glory": The Way We Dress

Today, I am going to start a short series called, "To God Be the Glory". I was originally going to make one article out of it, but couldn't fit all that I wanted to say in one article. So I decided to split it up into 3. :)

So, how can we give God the glory in the way we dress? Well, first of all, in Matthew 5:16, it says "In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." One of the ways we can let our lights shine is, well, following God's word! In 1 Timothy 2:9 (ESV) it says, "likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control,..." I think that's commandment enough. :) The congregation I worship at has a door hanging campaign. Where, over 8 weeks we pass out different articles written by members of the Church. One day, we got a comment of someone saying that they knew we were Christians because we all dressed modestly when we passed out the articles. I think that speaks for itself. One of the ways we can glorify God is dressing modestly, and letting our light shine. :)

Another thing is, if you see someone at the beach wearing a bikini, are you going to just assume that they're a highly moral person? No. You're going think that they're of this world, because that's how they dress. Of this world. Girls, we are not of this world. Romans 12:2 "Do not be conformed to this world,..." So, just because dressing immodestly may be the fad, the fad is what the world set up, and I would like to encourage you girls to, no matter what's in style, to dress modestly and let your light shine. :)
